This is an interesting question. Many heroes are defined with their battles and how they handle their nemesis. But, equally the hero does have to battle himself.
What hero has been brought low and had to reconcile to a point where he or she can overcome. Perhaps there is a hero who has gone down the road of redemption. Maybe that alone is good enough. Maybe a hero just has to grow up or evolve to where a challenge is no challenge.
Many stories have the hero starting out naive and unprepared for the world. In that case, a good gias is in order. The hero then just has to look at the journey and see that as personally fulfilling.
So, what hero stands out?
This list supplies one hundred heros many may have known in every genre. The article starts the debate by entering the name of Han Solo as this hero who faces defeat to come back better than ever.
I am kind of biased since I like science fiction. I do believe the better heros are in this genre. Up on that list above, most of those heros are from science fiction or comics. About comics, I have found this list of comic heros.
