This article talk about how bald eagles and other animals (so important for indigenous people) are killed or harmed by sloppy hunting practices. And, the bullets that are used. The bullet fragments are left out in the field with the cleanings which are eaten. With this article is a video showing seizures in a bald eagle.
The solution is for hunters to not use lead bullets. The problem is that there exists ambiguity as to whether lead can be used. Also, hunters need to be taught about what lead does to other animals-- especially the bald eagles that take advantage of some good meat just for the taking.
I post this to the First People Nation because of the importance of Eagles in tribal ceremonies. With harm being done to these birds, there also is negative impact done to the culture of the indigenous people. Now, all hunters I have met are a very responsible group. It is only recently that hunters, usually from the city, seem to hunt for sport and have no care in the world. There needs to be a special vigilance for these birds.
